"Honor?" (Prov.18:12; Matt.6:1) [Provrbs And The Kingdom Series]
And honor? Now that’s tricky stuff –
Before it, comes “That’s quite enough –
Just did my job, forget it, Sam”;
Humility is hard for man.It takes a while to find our place
Within a range where life takes place;
Below the floor; above the roof –
Both views are wrong – though our excuse –Is phony or inflated; still,
When brought to range our size-up will
Affirm our place beneath the sun;
Without, “I’m where all life’s begun”.Of angels? Little lower, man;
The Kingdom-layer concept can
Give us a place to stand (or dance),
And in our growth, in Christ advance –Without inflated estimate
Of life we’ve lived, our role in it;
For ’neath our feet lies “plastic layer”,
Or “kite with string”, response to prayer –That grace help us to move along,
While still His present help belongs
As part of life we live each day,
“In world, not of its life”, we say.We start again once we arrive
On Kingdom-layer, for we will thrive
If at the bottom rung we start
To learn, by steps, dynamic parts.When rescue-mission’s part of life,
We do our best out in the night;
For we learn too, and onward go,
Still so much more for us to know.So, “honor”? Not on Kingdom-layer;
Enough with inter-active prayer
(Or active, passive, as you wish);
I’m honored to be part of it.Thanks Lord for this.
