“Care”

Friend Lewis wrote his Grief Observed
To Chronicle what he observed
As he walked through his loss of wife,
And struggled to engage in life.

We too have lost so much with mom,
(Two daughters, two remaining sons
One gone; and dad as well, before),
Two years approaches – hearts still sore.

For me, depression’s stage I’m in,
As re-arranging now begins
Within my heart, and mind, and life;
Like Christmas – gone the tree with lights –

So furniture must re-arrange,
Lest gap that’s left seem now quite strange;
Lord, help me patient be these days,
As energy’s used in such ways.

I’ve been this way before, of course –
Our ties are pulled, so heart’s resource
Can be invested elsewhere now,
As You each day show where and how.

Lord, thank You for these days of grief;
So bitter-sweet the thoughts we meet;
Thank You for Kingdom-layer from where
We now can live – in You – show care.

Thanks Lord for this.
