“The Pleasant Present”

It’s “Pleasant present” for myself,
Which speaks to many of my health –
“I’m on the right side of the grass”,
Flip phrase I use as years fly past.

It was through poetry I spoke,
To share with others – any folk –
Update of cancer-walk each day –
“You want to know? Read what I say.”

That paper-trail continues now;
One year of treatment, shift to how
To now resolve “Ap-ministry”;
Then “Doing business” – Goodness; me.

But all that changed when creds came through;
Nine months I saw what I would do –
“Apostle-ship” was route You gave,
Then “Loop” and “Kingdom-layer” saved –

Me from that tight, obstructed world
Or one which died in dead-ly whirl;
I did a lot, below, above,
Right-brain set free to pour out love.

“Today” is where past, future meet;
A point of flow, on river sweet;
Seed-harvest time is always “now”
No other time does God allow.

“Tomorrow” shifts, becomes today;
Idea still until we play
Out concepts in the land of real;
Past tense then gone – the dead can’t feel.

But Lord, You see, as I do now,
From Kingdom-layer, which You allow,
This world like ants upon the floor –
Past, present, future – one glance – for –

The past is prologue, present’s here;
The future holds some options clear;
New options rise or melt away
Each chosen path we take today.

The sun throws light upon today
As globe spins round; down east they say,
“Oh well, tomorrow, try again;
I’ll put to rest my effort lame.”

And all the while we greet the dawn,
Take up “Today” they pass along;
If we could run fast as the sun,
Light would not mark fresh starts begun.

So, what the heck, as birds awake
Dawn in the East bids us to take
Fresh try today at life lived here,
Twixt past and future, present’s dear.

Thanks Lord for this.
