“The Past Makes Harvest”

“The past is prologue”, So it’s said,
In books and plays that I have for read;
But here I see, day two – the “past”
Is harvest-time – and harvest’s vast.

I put a lot in cooker-time,
“Gestation” where a thought that’s mine
Can have a chance to mellow out,
And I can learn what it’s about.

And not just my thought – others’ too
(That’s most of it), on such I chew,
Until it is digested, then
I can on solidness depend.

So this is now my harvest day –
“The past” when I review today
What’s entered on gestation page,
One page per month – three columns laid –

Out – people, concepts, things I’ve done;
For twenty years I’ve had the run
Of these brief pages – what’s transpired,
From Redvers ’till I’m soon retired.

So “Self in past” to present cooked;
It’s time once more – gestation book
Is viewed to see what’s harvesting
By Spirit as new fruit He brings.

Then too, there’s backlog poems here
To post, once edited to make them clear;
That too is seed sown in the past,
Which I’ve viewed little – size is vast.

Lord as I now my past review,
I ask Your help in hearing Then –
Just like tonight You said “Drop off
The tasks not yours” – more time that bought.

“Stu, Graham’s project fits here too;
And novels written, viewed as new;
It all matures in ratios
Of intervals as bin each fills.”

Okay Lord, thanks for this.
