“Echoes Of Community Past”

I gave my life in this domain,
Past tense, though feelings still remain;
Permission granted I don’t have,
Content they are to ask for salve.

To me it seems the smarter thing
To bring solutions from our King
To problems of the earth – oh well,
Salve works for those en route to hell.

I did “One thing” I chose each June
(Approaches now, I must choose soon) –
Board of the film-group; Sunday school;
Scout Skipper; TV output (cool) –

Ten years of fifth-steps; leaders helped,
Whose churches hassled ’till they yelped;
Co-op and airline checked out start;
Taught photo-makers darkroom art.

I stuck around to finish up
The White Bear gig – a puzzle tough;
Made website eight-K pages long;
Helped leader-mentees to get strong.

Then as a kid I did my bit
Which helps – gave friends and tubs of tips
On how to do life here and there;
Of course, my work enabled care.

Lord, harvest through the seeds of time,
And cash, resource, have worked out fine;
The government I’ve tried to please,
But they don’t recollect all these –

For staff moves on, and they don’t read;
“Protect the cash, for that we need”;
Shortsighted, but who gives a hoot;
Step out of line you get the boot.

So past and our community
It’s good; far less than it could be,
But I press on (my future tale)
From past; I know You still prevail.

Thanks Lord for this.
