“Plateaus We Love To Hate” [Reflections On Book  The Canadian Economy Series  B-2 - Health]

In Canada plateaus are in –
Like Medicare – we won’t begin
To raise the bang for buck we spend,
Until our errant-ways we mend.

The Feds bring cash with Province too;
The private folks – it’s work they do
To make, deliver service here;
Non-profits too – a mix that’s dear.

No “Catastrophic only” style;
No “Tests of means” are here allowed;
We aimed to capture gap in costs
Twixt “one” and “group” – it saved us lots.

But all the Western world’s now changed;
Sure, rising costs in part are blamed
For impact; as are Boomer-group,
Now well along the aging route –

But we’re maxed out – bang for our buck
From health-care system (rotten luck);
For changes now depend on change
Of lifestyle – we must rearrange –

Our social world, and private ways;
 Clean up our air and water-ways;
Drop stress and boredom of our days;
Ease poverty – try work that pays.

Tobacco, drugs, and alcohol;
No exercise, bad diets – they all
Contribute to our rising costs;
Poor driving, suicide – that’s lots –

Of aspects we could fix each day
We live; and they would make a way
Where we would live much better now,
And cuts to health care costs allow.

Thanks Lord for this.
