“Let There Be Light” (Genesis 1:3-5) [Reflections On Biblical References To The Theme  Of  "Light" - #1/30 - Gen. 1:1-5]

“Let there be light” describes my life –
The motives driving me to fight
For things on earth as up in heaven;
It’s been like that since six or seven.

Not all mature – it’s taken time;
I’ve groped my way and crossed Your line
In zig-zag fashion – riding bike
Is more the way I’ve stayed upright.

I thought at first I was the force
That brought in change – part right, of course;
I had to learn to work with God –
Let Him have room – to me seemed odd.

Then shining light in others’ lives –
Or on them – through exposing, tried
To bring them brighter worlds, but then
In mirror looked (both glass and pen).

Then came in that “Kingdom-layered” view
As place to stand, perspective new –
That was a shift, midway twixt earth
And heaven, as Kingdom has its birth.

“Creative gift of self” we are;
Just glimpses left of birth – so far
Back in our tiny minds – first day,
When light shone out God’s special way.

And yet it’s that way even yet –
“Let there be light” through which we get
The ways and means to take our pix,
As we – our world, and selves – are fixed.

Lord, thanks for Your created day,
And night – when we let go, and say
Our prayers of thanks, confess mis-steps
And by Your grace take time for rest.

Thanks Lord for this.
