"Collective Portrait"  [Reflections On Book Powerlines by Leona Frances Choy - Chapter 13 , G. Campbell Morgan #19/25]

 “Abandonment” to Jesus is the key
To door of life as Spirit-filled, said he;
“Obedience” from then on keeps it fresh;
“Abiding in the Spirit” gives us rest.

We each have different impacts on our hearts,
From day the Spirit first obtains His start;
He changes and matures us each to be
What God envisioned – now all plainly see.

But in that joint result we picture God,
For in His image made we are of sod;
Just like those portraits made of tiny specks,
Each spec a portrait, top of the head to neck.

Together we portray the mind of God;
The Spirit grows us up, though each seems odd,
Together in the distance all appear
Quite God-like – hence His essence is made clear.

God gives His Spirit, like at Pentecost,
His fullness flowing in, but can be lost
If we allow the leakage day by day
To let the Spirit dissipate that way.

Or keep Him in a corner of our lives,
Allowing not full access where He thrives;
We wonder why our lives are non-descript,
Yet block the Spirit’s action – hence we sit –

Mere shadows of a life we could have had;
We mope around, not Spirit-filled or glad
That God is filling us each day with life,
And flooding all our thought with inner light.

From blocks the Spirit cannot enter in,
The fullness of our lives and thus begin
To pour out into all of life around –
So in our photographs are seldom found –

His sure and certain presence – clearly seen
In what He helps us click on, which has been
A part of life for tiny slice of time
Conveyed it to others – Spirit’s world sublime.

Thanks Lord for this.
