"Then My Car Went 'McConkey'" [Reflections On Book Powerlines by Leona Frances Choy - Chapter 21 - J.H.McConkey, #9/25] (John 14:21; 7:38; Gal. 2:20; Ps.37:4)
I went for cough drops in my car;
It went “McConkey” – got as far
As store where it just stopped and stayed,
So I walked home (then down I lay).Just like McConkey says right here –
The Spirit does not store – that’s clear
More like a trolley’s powerlines
When we’re connected, we do fine.The Spirit comes – Baptism time –
But in our lives we draw the line –
“Is glass half empty?” we can ask,
All full – of water, air – a blast –Of Spirit (Rhuma) – air – a breath
Of God within our lives, and yet
We say – “There, in a corner sit”,
Then run our lives as we see fit.If Spirit’s to flow in, flow out,
No room to move, there’s little doubt
Impact we have ourselves, through pix
Will minor be, as here we sit.For “Spirit-walking” is the way;
Obedience – for He holds sway
On life, through us, as He pours out
To lives around us and about.As we diminish, He has room;
His impact through us comes so soon;
Just like the fragrance from her jar –
Once broken, fragrance carries far.“I am the vine, you, branches are;
Apart from me, you won’t get far;
Abide in me and I in you,
And dance of life is what we’ll do”.O Lord, refresh us here today;
Fill up our lives, do not delay;
Inspire us now to yield Thee room,
That fullness be our way quite soon.For many long for Spirit’s touch,
As journey starts for them, so much
Can come into their empty lives –
Your Spirit calls, “You too can thrive –“If you’ll just give your life today;
In Spirit-walking, then obey
His guidance – left turn; right turn; go!
Flow-through of Spirit-river know!”Thanks Lord for this.
