"When The Need Is Low"  [Reflections On Book  Powerlines  by Leona Frances Choy - Chapter 8 - #4/25]

When need is low, for life is good,
Life’s mysteries all understood,
We live our lives as satisfied –
No call for daily sacrifice.

The Gospel message seems quite strange;
Fanatics’ actions seemed deranged;
Third generation loses all;
It’s been that way since Adam’s fall.

Our bodies need good quality
Of health for parts to wholeness see;
When it falls short our problems rise;
Nutrition’s key, I would surmise.

But this is all quite cyclical –
Life’s good; good health; low need is felt;
Poor food; parts break; we scoff; too late –
Good food; health’s great; we celebrate!

If heresy is taking part
And calling it the whole – then start
By bringing in that missing piece
To body-life, thus find relief.

But no, fanatics, heretics,
Go spinning off, thus balance miss;
Then we reject their focal point,
When we should to it place appoint.

Take “Gifts of Holy Spirit” – part
Fanatics used to get their start;
“No healing here, today”, some say;
They’re right – for ill they’d rather stay.

God gives His gifts, we needs receive,
Not on the dinner-table leave,
And all the while feel smug and sure
In bodies wrecked, but feel secure.

For service, power of Spirit comes –
To heal, empower – for on it runs
Our life (as cars need gas to run),
Take in some Spirit, have some fun!

Thanks Lord for this.
