"Into The Groove" (Exodus 20:4-6) [ Ten Commandments As Hockey Rink Panels Series - #2]
What’s an idol in this modern day and age?
What’s it to me as now I write up this page?
“Stu, it’s you – you are enamored with yourself –
And fret each day how you’ve been left upon the shelf.“Think about it – what’s the thing that bugs you most?
All the instances when you were turned to toast;
‘Make an idol’– that describes your life in Me;
Give your head a shake – I want you to be free.“Like the world which now has shifted to online,
You have made yourselves an idol, think that’s fine;
When in fact the image used in making you,
Was just myself in all I think, and say, and do.“Then you’ve taken all those people that I made,
Split the body into parts – then chunks you’ve laid
To one side, as if they’re not a part of Me;
Thus you are weak, then sick, then dying – can’t you see?“ ‘Corporations’ in the images of some,
You have made, then through those entities have run
Your projections, said, ‘fictitious under law –
Just like persons’– idol’s stone while still a rock.”“Then you bow and scrape to be their favored son;
To their dictates twist your lives, their errands run;
But you know they’re not alive (though spirits there,
Have a heyday from beneath such stony lairs).“Then you worth-ship, setting me aside as “daft”;
“Non--existent”; “Way impossible He’s asked”;
But I’m jealous of priorities in life –
Into darkness I created peace and light.“When you walk away, preferring night to day,
It’s a rough road – planted seeds, though long delayed,
Still come up – your hatred of My ways above,
Cascade to children’s children’s push and shove.A thousand generations still reap their rewards,
From a life in Me that’s lived within the boards,
Of that hockey game out there on frozen lake –
Faster, tighter, game – of Kingdom-layer partake.“Do you love Me, Stu, like Peter on that shore?
Are you with Me in that meadow you adore?
My commandments will you walk in every day?
Is your life in Me the essence of your way?“Do you worth-ship Me – not image of yourself?
Are you quite content to work there on the shelf?
Is your heart at rest, content in work where you
Are an outlet for the tasks I’d have you do?“Thus in-incorporate by means of body-life,
Image given to the universe of light
Of myself – unlike some image on a coin;
Will you give to Me yourself that is, con-joined?”Lord, we’ve turned these fishing shacks and lighthouse towers,
Into our yacht-clubs, built around an image ours,
Or some creature – sleeping cat before the fire –
Lift us heavenward, now fulfilling Your desire.Thank You for Your Kingdom-layer made of ice
We can live upon, it’s shelter will suffice,
As we live in You, obeying Your commands,
In the face of world which shrinks from Your demands.Grace us daily both to know and do Your will;
Give us patience with ourselves and others – still
Keeping tension as we feel Your Spirit move
In our lives, as we start living in Your groove.Thanks Lord for this.
