"Embraced" [Reflections on Book - Right Side Up Side Down Connie Bischoff and Romeo Lemieux - re: Spiritu]

The clue to me – way in, to see,
Was Shredies spilled, and spoon with thee –
For life abides in eyelids still,
And lips hold muscle tone, and will.

So what? Not death but accident –
Like when she up for popcorn went –
Collapsed ten minutes on the floor,
Alerted us, and lived some more.

I well recall first time I’d seen
Such quick collapse where life had been
In front of me – not stumbled on –
Death’s part of life, as we pass on.

When youth now dies it’s tragic time –
So often life unfolds just fine,
Then “cars”, or “water”, “candle’s flame”,
Are entered in the form as “blame”.

Those Kodak moments, freeze-frame life
As death transects with sudden knife;
Two sides which lie – before and aft –
With months between when no one laughs.

But life moves on – what e’er the cause
Of old and new, when life gets paused;
Thank you, O Father, for Your grace,
Which wipes our tears, extends embrace.

Thanks Lord for this.
