"The Tool" (I Kings 3:9-15) [Northern Kingdom - Time Insights Series #6 -0)

To live the gospel in and through, not under, good news is;
This model helps to spell that out, for me, in land of biz.
Not sure the ins and outs of it, but Scripture has its place
In forming and enriching us about our time and space.

God asks us, what we’re willing to engage with Him in life,
So actions are supportive not just bringing endless strife;
“Be active” is the term I use, not “wishing on a star,
Hoping fairies will bring luck to us and leave us as we are”.

Old Solomon was granted such a wish when he was King,
In the Kingdom people wanted, hoped that it would riches bring;
For prosperity’s alluring to us hoi-polloi it seems,
Very few seek a righteous-living with prosperity – are mean.

“If you ask for inner wisdom, cash will follow, longer life;
If you seek the other foremost, you’ll die, having endless strife”
Such perceivers know that inner growth works out as better selves,
And we find our life is richer as we fix our inner shells.

What for me? I asked for wisdom, understanding ’bout my gift;
For some insight on my giver-side, and help the trash to sift;
I want growth in this before I die, more insight than the rest
(That’s naïve, perhaps, but heart was right, as I took up the quest).

Not the larger quest about “The Church”, the part we missed back there,
More this one within my family, in need of core repair;
Not just kith and kin – sub-culture of compassion-types out there,
Who need interface with givers so society can care.

At any rate, I ask for that, got down to work at that;
Bobby Tilton had some insights from his quarter – some were trash;
But at least he soaked in Scripture; sought the Lord to find His ways;
Shared results, amazing insights, (antidote a basis laid).

Economics was okay to me, with bafflegab and all,
Then the “Tree” as model opened up, with MRD that fall;
Agriculture with its issues, challenge of our prairie life,
Came to focus with its crushing load as margins are so tight.

Now it’s Veblen with his insights into even flow of cash,
Written back when life was changing, corporations rising fast;
He’d alerted us to problems now, one hundred years ago,
Then went off and followed line of thought (a dead-end, now we know).

But his insights were of quality, just there before their time –
Like, that “Goodwill” is “Intangibles” and core of business mine;
While “Debentures” speak of wrapping up, relate to assess base –
To gain that side, collateral makes ownership the case –

Just pull the plug and you can win, like bandits with one arm;
“I’m helping out – security – I guard lest grievous harm
To those investors who put trust in asset-base of Corp.
Lose money – that’s the task I do though now it’s somewhat warped.

“Two kinds of money” is the part outstanding to our cause;
Were closing in upon that part and wrapping up this pause;
So Solomon, with Proverbs, wisdom flowing from your pen –
We hear your choice, so “Insight” chose ’bout cash today, as then.
