"Last Stop?" [Reflections on Book Theory of Business Enterprise Thorstein Veblin, General; pre-Chap. 7 - Welfare]

Was this, the book he wrote oh-four,
Last stop on line of thought before
He got diverted – Soviet
And socialist experiment?

Chicago, where he worked one time,
Was where Art Davis’ friend refined
His knowledge in economy
’Fore to Toronto college scene.

If so, then best I really hear
His size up of his scene – quite clear
His thinking in this way of life,
’Fore thirties economic strife.

Lord, thanks for this quick pix of life
At turn of century – he’s right;
For economics in each time
Explains what thinkers then can find.

Though we’re all children of our age,
We get diverted at our stage;
When rabbit-runs bring short-term hope,
When we such ends can not yet scope.

Thanks Lord for this.
