"By Any Other Name"  [Reflections On Book - 100 Ideas That Changed Graphic Design Stephen Heller and Veronique Vienne - #37]

By any other name, a rose
Smells just as sweet – so I propose
That jackets on a book return
To advertising which we spurn –

In academic circles – right?
Those T-R’s think that plain’s all right
Because inside is where it’s at –
Addressing satisfaction’s cat.

Just like the numbered world for me,
Is “text” for others – when they see
A block of text not broken up,
They freak, and toss it out – “Too tough!”

Augmented text is more than this –
Not illustrations – I want pix
To also take on themes I raise,
Expressing each in pictured ways.

So what I’m hearing in this piece,
Is need for jackets to release
The inner content, style, and form,
Within the book – as shifted norm.

Thanks Lord for this.
