"My Fatal Mistake" [Reflections on Book - Right Side Up Side Down Connie Bischoff and Romeo Lemieux re: Dancing Queen]

I have not laughed so hard, ’till this
Vignette emerged as heaven’s kiss,
Erupted into story swell –
And I recalled my brush with hell.

For humor at its best, they say,
Pokes fun at us some clever way;
And so this does – not Dancing Queen,
But teacher – coach – as I have been.

Fatal mistake we hopefuls bring
To folks around, the song we sing
Is, “I can take you anywhere;
Give me a chance – I’ll get you there!”

“Where angels fear to tread”, they say,
“Encourager’s jump in and play
The hero – hard comes right away;
Impossible takes one more day”.

And yet, sometimes things work out right –
Some ugly duckling, beached in life,
When given a chance to swim again
Takes off across the Spanish Main.

A tow-truck operator’s dance
Is all about that second chance;
Lord help us laugh at self, but not
Step back from helping helpless lot.

Thanks Lord for this.
