"Learning" [Reflections on Book Capitalism Is Fallen, Elwin Kettner - Chap. 5]

It’s positive some learn from; some never learn at all;
More negative, some learn from how other people fall;
That landing in the Hudson was made by one who knew
From accidents he’d worked on – he analyzed and flew.

We look at Rome and Persia, Berlin, and even Brits;
Their lessons are abundant, though lessons we resist;
We like to have the icing, our cake, and eat it too,
But having and consuming expands our waist-ing view.

Three things we often trip on as modern countries go –
Inflation of our money – its value no one knows;
We fail to feed our people – that doesn’t last for long;
We wreck the world around us, to which we all belong.

No matter what your system of buy and sell each day,
When you mess up its ending in one or other way,
You’re messing with the money, food source, and world around;
Just look around, take notice, or you will hit the ground.

Some obfuscate the meaning of economic scene;
Economy of Judas betrays all those who’ve been
In school to learn the process of living in this land,
Who try it out ’till failing, then bog down in sand.

With five percent successful, and jobs sent overseas,
How can we raise our children to future options seize?
We blame them, not succeeding, impossible today;
As GDP is falling, how will they earn their pay?

Lord, thanks for Veblen’s insight, his clue on where to stand
To start successful business here in this frozen land;
I’d wondered how a team forms, I see it now quite clear –
Idea worth pursuing? – “Goodwill” – draws people near.

It’s catalyst to action (like minds attract to like),
That’s cool – here from the poop-deck, school’s base to build it right,
To move into the future, from Kingdom-layer, kite,
’Till we’ve secured our future, and built our business right.

Thanks Lord for this.
