"The Bounding Line" [Reflections on Book Theory of Business Enterprise  Thorstein Veblin, Chap. 5-6]

The bounding line, he seems to say,
Is meaningless – from day to day
The “Capital” floats free, and says,
“This point is where new business lags”.

For in the business world we see
A disconnect, though words there be
Which used to mean “Machines you own”
(Collateral for getting loans).

But now it floats – a mental term –
How good you are; how well you’ve turned
Your mix of aspects relevant,
Into a force significant.

He takes some time to spell things out,
Which plugs my mind, spins it about,
But bottom line, “Both are the same
Shares or a loan – just different names”.

Thanks Lord for this.
