The System "  [Reflections on Book Theory of Business Enterprise  Thorstein Veblin, Chap. 3]

Each system has its lift and drag;
So too with enterprise, which had
At turn of 19th century,
Large change afoot, we still can see.

Machines hooked up together made
Most goods and services, which laid
Off most within one hundred years –
Jobs out-sourced bringing local tears.

By that point, rationale for biz
Afoot was, “Big much cheaper is”,
So buyers, sellers, of the biz
Becomes where locused-action is.

So now the tail is wagging dog –
All biz is run by several cogs;
“Too bad, you lose”, “rationalize”;
“Cut management before it dies”.

Incentives (win this a lottery),
Make system-lift as we now see
From tumble by the Communists
In hundred years which follow this.

Disturbances (both up and down),
Make cash for folks who look around
And make disturbance all such ways,
Which brings them cash – disturbance pays.

Negotiation can take time
If points do not align with mine;
Or can speed up if feathered nests
Can put their consciences to rest.

Description’s great, and detailed there,
Of citizens in church’s care
To which Apostles go to seek
The entry code to help the weak.

For people off the Kingdom-layer
Need help, for jungle-life’s not fair;
The strong get stronger by the hour,
While Kingdom-layer adjusts such power.

Lord, thanks for this descriptive tome,
Predating my arrival home
Here on the prairie, aught-sixteen,
With business world both mean and mean.

Thanks Lord for this.
