"The  Layered Look For Layered Life" [Reflections On Book - 100 Ideas That Changed Graphic Design Stephen Heller and Veronique Vienne - # 11]

The layered look for layered life
Amazing is! Both loose and tight;
Eye-popping silhouettes of white on tone,
With layered-photos drive thought home.

First in Japan – four hundred years
It’s floated ’round in artist’s biz;
The layered look, deep meanings seen,
As we tease out what aspects mean.

From woodcuts – echoes in that book
Of Tao te Chang with wispy look
Of layered photos – black and white
Ephemeral, deceptive-light.

But there for folks to mine at will,
Those Chinese thoughts are with us still,
Brought back to circulation well
As artist’s A.T. Bookworks sell.

Thanks Lord for this.
