"Attendant Rays" [Reflections On Book - 100 Ideas That Changed Graphic Design Stephen Heller and Veronique Vienne - #4 ]

December sixth – the day said he
Now known as “Day of infamy”,
For rays on flag of rising sun
Would go from flag once war was done.

The Chinese would then use the rays
To highlight Chairman Mao in ways
Befitting him, as they then viewed
Their leader – power with him imbued.

Designs since ancient days used rays
For gods and heroes many ways,
To show an “aura” (from the sun,
Diffracted light in mist begun).

Now advertisers use the sign
To show up price or modern time;
Lines pointing out – Christ had a few,
Depicting more than most folks knew.

For us in age of atom blasts
That radiate, to show at last
Whose rays are brighter than the sun,
Which rises so the war is won.

Thanks Lord for this.
