"Adherance"[Reflections On Book - 100 Ideas That Changed Graphic Design Stephen Heller and Veronique Vienne - #3 ]

A hand with paint or soot
Made the transfers which then took
The form of living rooms
In caves, or ancient tombs.

Today such transfer art,
Like letters at the start
Of graphic output mine,
Fulfilled type’s new design.

But comic characters
As kids – my memory stirs
To “double-bubble” sheets –
Made arm-art – ever neat!

Now deckles everywhere
Direct our lives – prepare
Us safely, so we use
New products which we choose.

Surrealists used these
To make their art, which pleased
The viewers of their day,
For which collectors pay.

Wall-art returns again
Like caves in France and Spain –
As humor-deckles splay
On walls of homes today.

Stick on, adhere, peel off,
At decal-art we scoff;
But it’s symbolic too –
It’s what “adherents” do.

Thanks Lord for this.
