"The Dance "  [Reflections on Book The End Of College ch 3]

I danced my way to comprehend
An institution at its end;
Explaining, plugging up the holes,
I’d bought a myth – it’s bell now tolls.

“It’s old, slow-changing”, they had said,
But not that old, as I’ve now read;
The changes were not for the kids
(Or adults now) – a pack of fibs –

To justify high costs, and screen
Out lesser-lights, but now it seems
That mental food for those in there
Was pretty bad – and less the care.

Which says to me, “Great Books” (which was
One person’s fix) would work because
A set costs seven hundred bucks –
Though free on net – indeed, what luck!”

It is credentials – soon they’ll solve
That little glitch – then not involved
The mucky-muck’s of TR fame,
For “autodidact” is the game.

Thanks Lord for this.
