“Our Righteousness”
The Kingdom’s not our righteousness, it’s how it’s done by us,
When we climb up to live our lives above the worldly fuss;
We’re freed to do that in His love, accepted as we are;
Forgiving and forgiven now, Christ’s life through us, by Gar.Just like, “All that’s provided too”, is not just handed out,
But rather, we’re freed up from fuss to live what life’s about;
For we can make enough to live, life works the same today –
As we plug-in, and do our part, the music starts to play.The trouble is, that just like sales, the obstacle’s abound –
For every action we would take, some blockages are found;
It doesn’t matter what they are (“You can’t do that; go there”,
Or “Say that in our presence, for it says you just don’t care”).So, sidelined, we’re put on the shelf, until that frightful day,
When all looks bleak, as we look ’round – to us there is no way;
That’s when we’re opened to Your word, “The Kingdom’s like a kite
With string which rises as the wind blows in, and makes it tight –Or “Kingdom layer” if that works best, or “Clan of kith and kin”,
Some way which gives a place to live Your love in world we’re in,
Yet in a way that we can be exactly who we are,
So we can grow, and thus become much better such by far –For we are not yet perfect, not the folk You had in mind,
When you invented us, O Lord, but now new life we find,
And freedom to participate as body-parts with those
Who also wish to live their lives in You, as Goodness knows.It’s not to earn some brownie points, or justify ourselves;
It’s deep in gratitude we live this life, freed from our hells
On earth – though it’s around us still, to step back into night,
If we so wish, the choice is ours, if freedom gets too tight.So what’s this freedom for? To live our lives out day by day,
Accepted and accepting those who also wish to play;
“Good life” is “righteousness” which now describes how life can be
Laid out each day as kite, and string, and wind – by being me.Thanks Lord for this.
