"More Than Passive Be" [Sun Tsu Series #6-16] (John Ch.11)

When we engage the enemy
We can much more than passive be;
Impose arrangements on their force,
To take some shape or form, of course.

Their multitudes get broken down
To smaller groups, which, spread around
Are fewer at each contact place;
When shape’s observed, come face-to-face –

With greater numbers one-on-one
Until their pockets are all done;
Their forms and tactics lay the base
For their defeat what e’er the case.

Their multitudes do not catch on –
Strategic path which we are on
Is, “Force them to disperse their men
Into some shape – stand down ’till then.”

Their legions, masses tactical,
Cannot discern so practical
A way of winning; though we see,
Know well our way of victory.

Our plans, control, disposing task
Await their forming up at last;
We conquer, sweep to victory
With tactics from this strategy.

So you can clearly ascertain
That repetition, in the main,
Differs each time a battle’s fought,
From forms they take, each lesson’s taught.

Unlimited variety
Is ours when we wait patiently;
Then, when the weakness in their wall
Is seen – then Jericho will fall.

When Jesus’ friend named Lazarus
Fell sick and died He said, for us,
“I see how this will now play out –
God’s glory comes – the devil’s route.

For Judas there were demons old;
For Peter he had manner bold;
For Thomas, doubts – he ran away,
“For I can’t see – why should I stay?”

For wacko crowd, “It’s show-time, boys”;
For Pilate, Herod, “Quell the noise”;
For down-lines – “Hey, we’re out of here!”
For Antichrists, “Just kill Him, hear?”

Lord, we too are predictable;
A way comes clear, though fixable;
We leave some gaping hole in walls,
And wonder why in end, we fall.

Thanks Lord for this.
