"Fluidity" [Sun Tsu Series #6-17] (Rom. 8:9-17; Acts 16:9; 8:26-40; Matt.10:5-42)

This is no picnic that we’re on out here –
It’s war – control of forces is made clear
In manner they’re deployed, the forms they take,
As Army’s tactics (forward, back) are made.

It’s fluid – just like water on a hill,
So emulate its ways, adapt your will;
From higher to the lower hasten down
Like race; so run, avoid the higher ground.

The full, the strong, substantial? Stay away;
Superior in places? Do not stay;
The empty, weak, inferior, in parts?
Strike vacuous, it’s there you force impart.

In flowing down the hill, across the plain,
The water shapes its course by new terrain;
The earth, the ground, has barriers within,
But water flows where outlets now begin.

So too with forces gaining victory –
So manage and control what forms will be,
As you work out your way across the land,
Confronting when you have the upper hand.

As water has no constant shape or form,
Conditions change in warfare – that’s the norm;
Configurations shift to meet each change,
So combat power’s might can work full range.

If you can change, adapt, and modify
Your tactics, like the water, not rely
On static rigid ways and means at war,
You’ll gain the victory, succeed some more.

They’ll view you as divine, as genius;
As heaven-born, supreme in your success;
As spiritual – “He rare acumen holds,”
As you make ways for forces to be bold.

Within your larger forces bend and sway;
Don’t be concerned with which prevails each day –
Five elements in earth each take their turn
At being foremost aspect, all soon learn.

So too the seasons cycle through their course –
Some days get short then longer, like your force
Whose parts rise up, then fade like phasing moon;
Match strengths with tasks, and you’ll be winning soon.

Go forward, back; surprise, then standard be,
According to the shape of enemy;
There are no certain methods, work with change
As norm of life, and quickly re-arrange.

So Jesus, too, sent out his men that day –
“Be on your guard; adapt your chosen way;
Don’t be a fool, but Spirit-walker be,
As you step out and do your work for Me.

Thanks Lord for this.
