“Prayer”

I’m not so much a man of faith
As one, in Christ, who daily prays,
Not prayer of faith, but gripping times –
For fear describes this walk of mine.

Each day, O Lord, I come through You,
Ask for direction – what to do
As I engage each day ahead,
And write Your words as You have led.

I wish I could more clearly see
The path, and tasks You have for me;
Without perceiver’s seeing eyes,
I’d be quite lost, I realize.

Not lost – in You, I’d be in fact –
On Kingdom-layer I’d be intact;
I’d do quite well – one can’t get lost
Above where life is swirled and tossed.

With not so much a life of grace
As life lived out in Kingdom’s place –
“Glass-bottomed boat”; “Kite, up above”
“At one with kin-folk wrapped in love” –

How ever it’s come plain to us
When life’s ground down, amidst the fuss
Of life lived out on earth each day –
In You, O Lord, this Kingdom way.

For then it is, we start to see
A place prepared for us, to be
Above the swirl and blocked-up ways –
God’s kingdom-layer for us today.

I would not go back there, O Lord,
For anything – here at Your word
We’re freed from blocks, restrictions there,
To live our lives on Kingdom-layer.

Thanks Lord for this.
