“Impulsive Peter” [#5/6 Stupefying Factors - Reflections On Book - Charles L Mee Jr. Playing God ] (Matthew 26:51-54; 69-75)

Now Peter was a man like me,
Who charged ahead amidst melee,
And with a sword cut off an ear –
An action raising later fear –

So great, in fact, denied he Christ,
For friendship then had greater price;
No status in the others’ eyes;
When by himself, himself despised.

So consequences of our acts
Emerge unseen in current facts;
So too at Yalta, Churchill found
As he with others talking ’round –

The issues as their war wound down –
How would each divvy up the ground
With Stalin, Roosevelt, also him –
All three found shift that day begin.

We act; some project bring to fore;
Plan on resource to foster more;
But in our actions, kindly meant,
We find our time is quickly spent –

Along with cash, and energy;
No way ahead we clearly see;
What’s thought the best on Olivet,
In courtyard brings a nervous sweat.

Lord, in this Kingdom-layered look
You give perspective – Peter took
A step ahead of when was best
To act – then fled like all the rest.

You saw ahead and steady walked;
With Herod, Pilate, leaders talked;
Then suffered, died, and rose again,
That Kingdom life be ours through pain.

Thanks Lord for this.
