"Beneath The Skin " [Photographic Story Telling #5] [Community Contribution Set Of Poems]

I’ve known photographers whose work’s sublime,
Whose people-pictures sing, whose detail’s fine;
But of the surface only are their pix;
They’re skin-and-bone shots only – story’s missed.

I’ve known some other workers in the craft,
Both good and not so good at photo-task,
Who seem to reach beneath the skin and bone,
And grasp the person’s essence, bring it home.

Not every worker has the eyes to see
The spirit of a person, which can be
What makes a portrait; candid shot the best
Work ever done – until s/he shoots the next.

So try to understand the story there,
Of people, flowers, buildings, smoky air;
For story is what makes a photo sing,
As we these stories to our viewers bring.

Thanks Lord for this.
