"Single Shot Stories " [Photographic Story Telling #1] [Community Contribution Set Of Poems]
A man named Engh helped me to see
A formula, so pix could be
A story in a nutshell – quick,
And to the point in telling it.First thing, put people in your pix –
They are the key to telling it;
Folks like a person there – implied
Works too, of course, if they have died –Like once I went to widow’s place,
Walked in the porch, my eyes then raced
Around that room, and there it was –
His farmer’s cap and coat – because –He’d left that day to buy some food;
Did not return – so there it stood
As every day when he’d come back
And peg his jacket and his hat.The next thing in the storied pix
Is symbol – tools will often do the trick;
Or uniforms, something to tell
About the yarn, and tell it well.Engagement is the third wee piece –
Get them involved, if two, release
Them from their bondage to your lens –
What they might do, of course, depends –On what the story in your mind
Dictates to you – but you will find
If person, symbol, actions mix
Together well, you’ll have a pix –Which really sings – but one more thing –
Is context where that picture sings –
An urban slum, or country store;
In outer space – that tells us more.So there – a context; folks involved;
A symbol’s mystery then is solved;
For story parts let viewers make
Their story up – there’s no “mistake” –For we construct reality
From scenes in pictures which we see;
You bring one half of story in,
They bring their half – then play begins.Thanks Lord for this.
