“Our Town”[Community Contribution Set Of Poems] [Day One]
One year when kids were small, we had no cash;
With summer break, “What could we do?” I asked,
That this might be a summer to recall –
God gave His answer – “Pictures on the wall”.So every day I photographed our life;
Put pictures all around of kids and wife
In kitchen, where we ate three times a day,
“With camera” I learned that year to pray.We sold the concept to the kids this way –
“We’ll do some things ’round here, not go away;
The days we have ahead are seventy-two –
They’re each a precious gift – what should we do?”We all joined in, ideas large and small
Then filled our days, I photograph them all;
“Each precious moment – can’t all people see?”
That movie asked, “how precious life can be!”Lord, as they start to walk these summer days,
May richness come as they view work and play
Through others eyes, caught now with this machine;
Then talk about what all their pictures mean.“A picture’s worth a thousand words”, they say;
But one can put that thought another way –
“A word is but one-thousandth of a pix” –
A slice of time – like “Love”, and “Help”, and “Fix”.I hope you pass the camera all around –
Thanks Lord for this.
You’re in their world, and they’re in yours I’ve found;
Beware of getting left out from your pix,
So life together grows, when camera clicks.navigation
