“Kingdom Life”

“Detach with love”, the saying goes for those
Whose life’s disrupted by the booze – life goes
Into a world of merry-round and whirl –
Affected persons’ co-dependent’s swirl.

I’ve come to see we all are facing that;
As we grow up, we need to be detached
With love from co-dependents all around
Us – in ourselves and others such is found.

And then good news! A “Kingdom-layer” God made
For all of us who long for what God’s laid
Before us in our dreams – “Thy Kingdom come;
Thy will be done on earth – as heaven’s run.”

But try that out in daily life in world,
And you’ll wipe out, swept by tornado’s swirl –
“You cannot say, or think, or do, those things,”
They say to all, when dreams to life one brings.

For “Hope deferred makes heart sink in us all,”
Says Proverbs, but, good news lets us rise tall;
For “Dreams fulfilled provide a tree of life,”
For us on Kingdom’s layer – above the strife.

It’s true in world as well, God’s Spirit helps
Us dance around the obstacles, and yelps
Of friends and neighbors put off by each gain
We make (unless they also get the same).

But there’s a “Kingdom layer” where we can live,
And catch our breath, from which we then can give
Our full attention (freed from blocks and stops
The others raise), ’till dreams fulfilled we’ve got.

Oh sweet relief! How great this Jubilee
You’ve given us – each person now set free
To be their best, rise over mean and mean,
And feel the wind lift up – like kites we’re seen.

And more than that, up here, on Kingdom-layer,
Our allergies are gone – each person there
Is seen to be some part of body-life,
Thus part of whole humanity – fit right.

We gain from others’ blessings flowing out
To all around, ennobled now, no doubt;
Far more than each could live out on their own –
It’s body-life we gain in Kingdom zone.

“Detach with love,” lets us engage again,
Freed up to interact beyond the pain
Of co-dependent life – we inter-act
As folks set free from that which holds us back.

There’s time we carry those who need our aid,
For loving others is how best to we’re made;
But that’s reciprocal – when each is freed
To help out others also in their need.

I like the image – manna in the sand –
“Fill up your daily-jar as best you can;
If you’re done early, help the slower folk,
Once yours is filled – so all are fed” – take note –

That’s different from the world and how it runs –
“Get all you can; can all that to you comes;
Sit on the lid; shoot others who would take
Your precious stash, as bigger barns you make”.

“Our daily bread,” we pray for, as You taught,
Just like ancestors’ manna as they walked
Those forty years in desert, letting go
Of point of view each slave had come to know.

Lord, help us grow in Your economy
(Agreements made in each society
On how exchange will work that’s best for all),
Now opened up as “Kingdom” since the fall.

Thanks Lord for this.
