"Shut Down" [Module#449] (John 18:14-24)

“If I tell, you won’t believe me;
If I ask, you’ll not respond”;
Sounds like UCC that winter,
When my soul was in despond.

Like a freight-train going sixty,
Chance to stop it is long-gone;
Sometimes silence speaks the loudest
In the courtyards ’fore the dawn.

Then they’ll take your precious moments,
Precious words you passed along,
And they’ll turn them back upon you –
Laugh, then sing another song.

All our sins have consequences,
This we know from life as kids;
So do words of our forgiveness,
From this world it rancor rids.

If we stand back, look around us,
Demons from our early days
Find it opportune to visit
Hat in hand through friendship say –

“Surely not – on self have pity
Boy from Nazareth of old;
Just deny and join my army
You’ll come quickly from the cold.”

“Look at Peter – he advised you
Not to take this road at all.”
“Look at Peter by the daylight
Then you’ll see his stature’s small.”

Lord we owe our best life to You;
Now on Kingdom-layer we move,
In an new and perfect freedom;
Thanks for showing us Your love.

Thanks Lord for this.
