"Because I Was With You" [Module#427]  (John 16:4b-6; 14:31b)

Some things Christ did not tell his men –
He was with them, no need to pain
Them with some things still up the road,
Make life today have greater load.

Tomorrow’s load today, when seen,
Much greater is than what has been,
Because tomorrow can’t be touched,
Today is what is done – enough –

For us to work on every day;
But now that Christ was going away
He mentioned it – “Men, be prepared,
Tomorrow face, then – don’t be scared”.

He noticed they were filled with grief
At His departing words beneath
The stars (if, “Come, let us now leave”,
Meant walking-talking in the eve).

He saw in grief no question then,
Of where He’d go when leaving them;
They were still stunned – impending doom –
Tomorrow’s load today? Too soon.

On to the way they’d go so soon
And feel the hassle, pain, and tomb,
Like Christ himself – yes, warned indeed,
But journeying, have Spirit feed.

I’ve now done “run-through” – took some time;
No short-field-takeoff-plane of mine,
With Scripture-focus as my task,
For Kingdom-layer – frees at last.

Thanks Lord for this.
