"Response-ability" [Module#385]  (Matt.26:20-25; Luke 22:14-22;etc.)

I saw this guy in basketball
Get stomped on, on the floor;
He laughed, got up, and carried on,
In him I saw much more –

I saw a man much bigger than
The stomper in revenge;
His laughter in and at the scene
Was caught by camera lens.

I still can picture him – that smile
Is frozen in my mind,
And lifts my soul on thinking, “that’s
A great way to be kind”.

For yeah, there’s goof-ups, errors, sins,
We all get swept up in;
Response to them can defuse stress,
And let the Kingdom reign.

I see him in the mind of Christ,
As world performed its worst;
He met their vengeance with His love;
Forgiveness eases curse.

Lord, You’ve more ways than we can count
To counter acts of hate;
Please help us listen to Your voice,
Respond with ‘Hesitate’.

Like Kipling said, fill minute up
With sixty seconds moved
On up the road in better ways
Than anger’s lashing mood.

And when the storm-front’s moved away
Help us repair within
Ourselves and our relationship,
That Kingdom-life begin.

Thanks Lord for this.
