“Venn Three” (Matt. 21:28) [Module #295]

He said one day a friend of his
Three things would be, but route that is
Trailed out behind, winds through the woods
Like rabbit-trail, not like it “should”.

At least, that’s “should” as people say,
If you’d do life the “proper” way –
From “A” to “Z”; fulfill some goal;
And in the end emerge as whole.

But as he then considered life
His friend has lived, and all the strife
He had encountered, this he said,
“God raised him up as from the dead –

“And took him home by winding trails,
So now we see God’s way prevails
Despite our start or circumstance –
God is indeed “Lord of the dance” –

For now friend’s come to what he saw –
He does three things – life’s hungry maw
Did not devour in darkest wood,
And now this fellow understood –

That God prepares us for the task
He has in mind, and does it fast
(When one considers larger scene,
Fast, thus defined, is what we mean).

“So do not fret about the speed;
God solid builds, and meets each need;
Abide in Him, and He in us,
As all get there despite the fuss.

“So what did you see from the first?
For what in fact do you still thirst?
Has God fulfilled that vision quest?
Have you arrived? Is heart at rest?

“It’s not too late to enter in;
You said you’d go – why not begin?
At least let go, let God direct
Your paths, for He can get there yet.”

Perhaps, for me, Venn diagram
Depicts God’s purpose – that I am
With focus – overlapping rings
Intensified by what each brings –

Ring one – inviter to the Word;
That is, of course, now understood,
As “Worker in the vineyard be,
On Kingdom-layer, come live with Me.”

Ring two – which overlaps the first,
Is learning, which resembles thirst –
I long to know what makes things tick –
Clock as a child, now systems fixed.

Third ring – suppressed right from the start,
Is giver-gift, for cash is part
Of who I am, and how I see
Of body-life this part is me.

So put those rings close, in a pile;
They overlap, which makes me smile,
As worker in the vineyard, now
On Kingdom-layer, I now see how –

They all hook up and inter-twine,
Now acetate is layer of mine –
Come up if you would have your ease
In prospering while God you please.

The detail’s not quite worked out yet,
But come on up, Christ won’t forget
Where you are going in God’s plan;
He’ll guide your spirit through the land.

Lord, all the rest falls to the land;
As Kingdom-layer I understand –
“All things through Him I do,” Paul said,
Now, so with us, for we are dead.

“So where you are now be content;
If things so change, and road be bent,
Well, that’s okay, for in God’s way,
All roads get there by end of day.

“Use what you’ve got in Kingdom’s way;
Don’t let things sit unused each day –
Your skills, your tools, supporting you –
Each one in employ as you are fueled –

“By prayer-dynamics – what’s your prob?
Awash you are in things of God;
“Let go, let God”; “Take hold” today –
As inter-actor all the way.
