“Pink Road Plus Layers” (Matt. 20:28; Mark 10:15 ) [Module #263]

I’d seen the loop with road of pink
Bring us to culture’s life to think
Both from above and down below
But over time I came to know –

A fading in my memory
Of where I’d been, what came of me,
Until the layered-look emerged,
As “in” not “of” – no way submerged –

Which kept my elevated way
Deeply involved in world each day,
Yet free within world’s nasty rules,
Restricted, viewed by all as fools.

I wish I’d had perspective then,
In crossing cultures, knowing when
And where, and how, You’d have me do
Your will – and sometimes play the fool.

I wish I’d had it in the towns
I’ve lived in through their ups and downs,
For free I’d be for this and that –
I did a lot, but little laughed.

For freedom as His serving men,
As Kingdom-players, when He sends
Us to some work He’d have us do,
Is found in layered-look with you.

Some towns have struggles; some are trapped;
Some leaders push and shove, are fat
With plunder taken from the weak –
But layers lets us have a peek –

At how things are to be, could be;
At this and that’s which we can see
Us doing as at His bidding to
Give Jubilee through what we do.

But mostly it lets tempos clash,
Without the friction – people ask
If we could help, do this or that –
We can, in Him, without the flak.

So we can now disciple too,
Those folks with us in layered view;
Now that is freedom I have missed
Through days in world as heaven-kissed.

Thanks Lord for this.
