"Lazarus -  Left Brain And Right" [Module #250] (John 11:48b)

The guidance given to Lazarus,
“Come forth and have some soup with us”,
Was clear, direct, and honest fare
From Jesus showing grief-time care.

How Jesus speaks to us, of course,
Quite varied is – a gentle force
In life we speak of differently
’Bout what we hear, and think and see.

All that’s before obedience –
Sometimes it’s tough, the song and dance
He wants from us – some “this and that” –
It gives Him room in which to act.

Some folks say, “Jesus spoke to me”
Some, “Spirit’s guidance – what I see”
Some, “God the Father up above
Showed me the way as act of love.”

Some say, “Through Scripture’s how I heard”;
Some say, “In prayer I heard His word”;
Some, “In experience today
I grasped what He desired to say”.

Some call him “Allah”, others, “Bob”;
Some, “Holy Spirit”; some say “God”;
Some say, “Who knows? Like unknown God
Paul saw on Monument quite odd.”

For some, God’s just a unity;
For some, God’s layered, split in three;
For some, amorphous, Host of Mass;
Quite numinous for all, alas.

Accounts of prayer-life varied are,
From folks around, or live afar;
And that’s apart from “dark-side” news,
From those who hold such spirit-views.

For me, the “prayer dynamics” view
Emerged with inter-actions new
To me in Scripture – read “okay”
To life with God, and how I’d prayed.

Right-brain and left, both parts of this,
Enrich the texture of such bliss;
But photographic poem times
Express communication’s rhymes –

Quite well, for in between my words,
A sub-text runs, sometimes not heard
’Till later, when I look upon
A poem set, of which I’m fond.

To me, I’m blessed to speak with folks,
And hear prayer-journeys – tears and jokes –
As they share things not spoken of –
When they’ve encountered heavenly love.

Lord, oft’ times we’re frustrated here
With church, and world, or path unclear;
Help us hear Lazarus today,
As folks recount Your Spirit’s ways.

Help us stay silent, listening through
Folks’ halting words and partial views
Of where they’ve been, Your touch of love,
Some certainty drawn from above.

Thank you for this.
