"Reflective Re-Tweet" [Reflection On Today's FBC Message] (Mark 4:35-41; Matt.14:28-33)
Hey, hey, there Charlie, that was good;
I hunch most folks have understood
That faith trumps fear out on the lake,
For those asleep and those awake.“He took them into danger’s way,
Then went to sleep”, I heard you say –
I like that line, for we do too,
Then friends respond like Yours to You –“Hey! Don’t you care? We’re going to drown;
’Bout one more wave and we’ll go down;”
They found a boat in Galilee,
Sunk in the mud beneath that sea –So fear was real – it happened there –
Of course disciples were all scared;
Then, “Peace, be still”, to storm and hearts
In turmoil once such pounding starts.“Where is your faith?” You asked the men;
“Why are there storms at all? We send
As our response to theirs that day –
“Just mimic Me – say what I say –“For faith is what it’s all about –
Faith whispered, uttered with a shout,
Which way, it matters not one whit;
There’s faith-based life because of it.“Relax, for down the road, you guys,
Will see Me water-walk, then die;
For faith in God (Isaiah’s note),
Lifts us as Eagles – as he wrote.Did they debrief like other times,
Beneath the sun with gentle wind?
Or drift and talk beneath the stars
All night – like presence where we are?Though “storm” stands in for what we fear,
Most nowadays shed different tears;
Freedom from fear, which faith provides,
Dissolves paralysis – besides –Once we catch on whose side He’s on,
We like that power – makes for a song
Within our nights of fearsome walk,
Once we have heard storm-calming talk.Lord, many walk the waves today,
And three waves out we hear them say,
“I’m sinking, Lord, help me survive,
I lack the faith to stay alive.”Be with us all as we mature,
Grow in Your grace to pace that’s sure;
In times of fear upon some sea,
Awake – say, “Peace, abide in Me.”Thanks Lord for this.
