“Of Tribal Ways”

“I love this little town; it’s tribal ways
Are just below the surface, so it pays
To heed the rules of business in small towns –
Relating to each one as folks are found.

“When teams are formed they’re done by family,
With others brought to augment locally
From kith and kin; ‘Who are your people, chum?’
Is how internal enterprise is run.

“Of course, big-city types don’t live that way –
Their institutions grow, exert their sway
On others by incorporating might,
And each one views his business as a fight.

“This town is where two systems flow and mix –
The tribal ways give nod to how they fix
A problem, or an option rising up,
Then finds a way to act that’s not so rough.

“Sure, sometimes it means walking off the field,
And sometimes for community they yield;
But this is how mankind evolved to here,
And in their actions, best of life’s made clear.”

Thanks Lord for this.
