“Job Shadow” [Module # 217] (Luke 14:1ff. )
Was Jesus by himself at lunch
Of Pharisees (there was a bunch
Of them, of course)? How do we know
What here transpired, that it was so?“Job shadow”, term we use today,
Was how He taught from day to day;
His four, then twelve, then seven-two
Disciples, known to me and you.His way was prepped by seven-two,
Who’d gone ahead, told what to do;
But it’s not clear if one was there
Who’d gone ahead and way prepared.The Pharisees were largest part
Of Jewish folks – they’d got a start
One hundred fifty years before –
“Reformed” – took Faith out Temple’s door –Into their daily walks of life,
And used it to inform them – tight
They stayed there with reform until
It twisted got as tighter still –Their faith became – straight-jacket like –
More harm than good in doing “right”;
So Jesus said, “Ease back a bit;
Perspective gain” – a candle lit:Like here, “His healing’s been delayed,
So heal, don’t wait another day;
Set free, release, let this man go
As you with sons already know.”Perhaps a Pharisee or two
Joined up at later date, and knew
This incident – were there for lunch,
Perhaps Christ’s words had made a crunch –On his too-tight religious stance;
Felt freedom, then – began to dance;
Saw life spring up in kids and wife;
Said, “He that day gave us new life!”Who knows, but this is often caught
When this is seen, and not just taught
As principal to live too well –
For law to tight is living hell.So, “Closely watched” we often are
By followers, some from afar;
So if we are the “copied” type
Of leader – do your work in light.Lord, as this next part gears up now,
Help me stay in Your love somehow,
And be where others’ sense Your hand –
And life through me in this fair land.Thanks Lord for this.
