“A New Normal” [Module # 219] (Luke 17:22-24)
People talk a lot these days
How normal’s changed its normal ways;
It’s not so much reality,
As inner ways we’ve come to see.We think back to the dinosaur –
Became extinct, was seen no more
Because the climate changed for all –
No room was left for creatures tall.With global warming’s gloom and doom,
Folks see it might return quite soon –
Some ice-age, or reverse of it;
“Oh! Woe is me” – they take a fit.Well, in that day, when big one comes,
Christ said there’ll be no place to run;
It will light up the earth at once;
Evaporate – not weigh an ounce.His point in such depressing talk?
All will appear – the good, the rot –
So maybe best to change your ways
From bad, in these remaining days.For we don’t want to overthrow
Oppressive-types – deep down we know
Oppressive types we want to be,
While claiming we would like to see –Just one day clear of all that lot;
We hide our motives, moan in talk,
But all the while our Sun Tzu ways
Articulate in strident days.Lord, that is true for all of us –
You warn us to avoid the fuss
By sticking by Your side each day,
Not chasing down some scheming way –Purporting to be best for all,
Or best of options since the fall –
“This is the Savior and His ways –
Will save us all through modern days” –Such is the cry today of men
And women, who can apprehend
A way in which things look quite good,
From point of view they’ve understood.But it’s just flimflam, hokum, trash;
Like self-deluded, you might ask,
“How that can be reality?”
They’ll say, because the viewer’s ‘me’.“The heart’s deceitful as can be”
Said Jeremiah, who could see,
“It’s wicked, I’d say desperately,
And who can know what it can be?”That was two dozen centuries
Before today – but we can see
Not much is changed; it might be best
To knock it off – give sin a rest.Lord as this week starts off today,
Three double-days, please guide our way,
That we might grow up into you
In all we think, and say, and do.Thanks Lord for this.
