“Much” [Module #228] (Matt 19:16-30; 20:1-16)

A great deal of insight has come to my sight,
And clarified living with power and might;
Expressions of help as things flow now away,
Explained as I ponder Your biblical “Way ”.

Not way that is different from what we have now –
Rich treasures of insight from thinkers on how
The system-dynamics of economy,
Move onward with power in society –

“Unseen is the hand guiding money and things”,
So say all the text-books convention now brings
To questions we all have, about how things are
In world of possessions and wealth near and far.

Tree-model with road and two ditches along
Both sides, filled with people who say, “You are wrong –
For we have the answers, perspectives galore –
So join us in thinking, ‘Our way gives us more’.”

Big Bobby had insights he’d gleaned from the text
Of Scripture – how God views our shift up from “less”
To “More” and “Abundance” – God doesn’t desire
To have us in poverty – “Help all go higher”.

Then Andrew said Jesus will interact now
With those who will boogie with Him – He shows how
To enter relationship started by Christ,
Exciting for me, like as things now get tight.

Commandments, like panels of boards on our rink,
Help games to go faster and tighter, I think;
We’re not chasing pucks as they slide down the lake,
So game stays confined as in teamwork we make –

Our plays as two teams flowing liquid as milk,
Each play imperceptible, flowing like silk;
Except to the eyes which are tuned to such moves
And celebrate greatness in tie, win, or lose.

We see such dynamics when things don’t go well;
Our learnings of money take place in the hell
Of systems which fail us, and people who want
To have something better than life in a swamp.

Each culture has insights the others can use;
Each gift has perspective – together can’t lose;
Each person has skill-sets, approaches that work
For them as on edges of life some now lurk.

So God is here with us, concerned with our lives,
And deeply desires that humanities’ ties
With Him and each other stay firm in the world,
So all can be part of the victory skirl.

Lord, keep me here with You as day follows night;
Rise up above life viewed as power and might;
Defining the winners of small victories,
While others lie dying, defeated with ease.

May I stay here with You, take guidance from You,
Each day, in our prayer-time see what I should do;
I’ve not done this journey, this pathway before,
Please grace me to be as Your presence – adore –

Your ways which transcend my best thought here each day;
Your presence and caring and deft multi-play;
Your Kingdom the base of our daily desire
For Spirit within us, enlivened fire.
