"Spreads Like Leaven; Grows Like Seeds" [Module #175] (Luke 13:17-21)

Our leaven doesn’t grow on trees;
Nor do we pick like lettuce leaves
It’s beneficial wonderment –
It’s in the air of firmament.

At least that’s how it spreads around –
It’s in the wind that it is found –
That micro-magic world we see
When it puffs up the bread we knead.

Some seeds we eat, some we let grow
From tiny ones to ones we know
Within large pumpkins, weighty things;
But power is in the growth each brings –

Seed of the oak tree, sturdy, strong;
Seed of a person short or long;
Seed of the carefree flower bloom;
Seed of investments, pets we groom;

O Lord, You said Your word’s like that –
It spreads like leaven in a vat
Of bread dough – cell-division like –
Words and ideas giving life.

You also said it grows like seeds –
One little word or gesture feeds
Soul-ready-soil, then magic starts,
And seed grows up, new life imparts.

It spreads like leaven, grows like seeds;
There’s one more aspect which it needs –
The kingdom of our God and King
Needs people’s hearts – the part we bring.

Thanks Lord for this.
