"Claims Of Oneness With God Tested By The Complex Dynamics Of Practical Love" [1st John series] (1st John 3:11-24; Matthew 5:17; Ephesians Chapter 1-2)

“Such love – such love” – they sing God’s love for us –
And yet, it’s given to us amidst the fuss,
With cost that’s high – response? New freedom’s choice –
Will we draw nigh with heart and soul and voice?

Or will we take such blessings all in stride,
And move away, not towards our Savior’s side?
“Entitlement” is how such love is seen today –
“You give; I take – the cost is yours to pay”.

But then again, it’s cash that’s tofu-like;
Our flavored lives pass on beyond our sight
Into the circles of our neighbors’ lives,
And let’s Life flow – it overflows and thrives.

And then, one day, effect and impact felt,
Someone, somewhere, hears love where someone knelt
In prayer then rose, passed on without one care –
God’s love through them, result? Love’s crop was there.

So Lord, as we live in our stumbling ways,
Flow love through us to others in our days;
Grace us through times of low, or no response,
Or hostile actions – letting go at once –

Of “Just reward”; “Investment’s sweet return”;
Or recompense that pays in lessons learned;
Your love and justice have a larger view,
Than what we see or hold as life in You.

Lord, grace this day of life within Your hope,
As we move on, rise up into Your scope
And scale of life – beyond our view by far –
Until in love with You we gathered are.

Thanks Lord for this.
