"A Bone To Pick (Or Two)" [Module#158) (Luke 11:37-52)
My lawyer once said that to me –
“I have a bone to pick with thee,
For opening to lead our church
Exists, and we’re left in the lurch”.I laughed and said, “I’m on a quest;
I would not fit there, I am blessed
To seek an answer not yet seen,
Or question even – but I’ve been –Along that road – a problem’s there
Which all will hit in time – I swear
I’m not just piking off with this;
I’m on a quest – that Christ might kiss –You people who now carry on;
I do this job while I am gone
To fund this little caper now,
And get the answer – plus allow –Me grace to carry on this way,
For I will at this mission stay”
He did – I did – one hairy ride,
But in the end I found – besides –It knocked some corners off me too;
As TCK came into view
Once MRD and novels rose
To be a part of how this goes.Well, dinner host had bone to pick
With Jesus as he had Him sit
At lunch – “You do not wash Your hands,
So You’re not in our merry band”.“Hey, buddy – clean your insides out –
It’s filthy there – you splash about
At shallow-water things in life,
But deeper part is dark is night”.He gave examples, named a few
Things He’d observed – things they could do,
From which we still can learn today,
As Jesus for our table stays.Did Jesus pick the fight that day?
Or just respond in helpful way?
And us? Do we respond His way
In words we hear our Father say?In middle of a fracas I
Can’t keep my cool; no grace, I tie
Right in with pent-up energy
From exile time – not best from me.Lord, as we enter chats with folks
At lunch or supper, feed us jokes
So we can share Your insights there,
And through our actions show Your care.Thanks Lord for this.
