"Through Walls Of Stone" [Module #138] (Luke 11:9-10)
I sought and found the missing piece
For church today – upon my knees
I walked the walk just like that kid
On graveled ground “To demons rid”.But mine I chose within Your will;
Hers was imposed, and lingered still
Those years beyond her childhood shame,
When teachers played that vicious game.I asked You, Lord, to give to me
A way to economics see,
And giving, money, all the rest,
Like business – and You gave the best.It’s not I understand it all,
At least not yet, for, since the fall
We’ve wandered, squandered, fought our wars
To get some more of others’ store.And in the process formed our thought,
To justify the things we bought;
But that was twisted, still it is
Like that in home and way of biz.I knocked on doors throughout my life,
Not many, but through all the strife
I did, You answered many times,
But kept them closed when e’er my mind –Was set on some way not so good,
With larger view You understood;
And kept me safe without the door,
That we might live as life before.I wanted in, they said, “No way”;
When I got in, said, “Go ’way”;
Each time they did, I grew a lot;
I lost, yet treasure’s what I got.Folks speculate if there’s a world
That’s parallel to Western swirl,
As in some science-fiction flick;
There is, but here, I’ll give a tip –It’s not some scientific way;
It’s all about our cultures – say
You’re on the inside looking out –
We’re here all right – but there’s no doubt –A barrier lies in between;
A wall of stone is what I mean;
Christ rolled the rock, and walk through walls,
Gained access to our cultures’ halls.And we can too, but have no doubt,
Those walls remain and they are stout;
Thank God for that – we’re free to live,
And unmolested, learn to give.Where others “take” to do their lives,
Out here our cultured-way survives,
Protected by those walls of stone,
Here free to live – create a home.Thanks Lord for this.
