"The Long Hill"  [Module # 120] (Luke 10:1-12)

When coming home, the highway has a hill;
Escarpment’s there in fact, which always will
See deer and moose and other wildlife cross
The highway – lots get hit, and great the loss.

“As sheep amongst the wolves I send you out,
So watch yourselves because, without a doubt,
They will attack, but here’s advice I give –
Say, ‘Kingdom’s almost here to help you live’.

“Say that if people give you time of day;
Say that if people say, ‘Please go away’;
For that’s the essence of My work with you –
A little this and that for you to do.

“It’s harvest time – there’s lots will ready be
Whose time is right, and so on bended knee
They pray to God to ease their time of need –
So harvest them, for they’ve matured from seed.”

How will we know which ones have prayed this way?
“The way that they respond from day to day –
If welcome mat is laid out at your feet,
My words through you such readiness will meet.”

What of the rest? “Just leave them for today;
Don’t carry ’round their burden on your way;
When crop is ripe, that’s when the harvest comes;
There’s plenty – as the river constant runs.

“Some towns have attitudes which scorn My word,
But even there, some think it’s not absurd
That words of life fulfill their long-felt need –
Alert remain to those – their hunger feed.

“If they hear you, it’s Me who moves each heart;
If they hear Me, it’s God who’s played a part
In bringing them to life from endless night;
From then on life for them will be quite right.”

They headed out in pairs throughout the north –
“In Jesus name we come – He sent us forth”,
They said as they pressed on and tried things out,
To find if it was true – remove all doubt.

Lord, as I shift my focus at this time,
Please help me keep in step – do job that’s mine,
And leave the rest to others at Your call;
And do Your this and that’s, however small.

Thanks Lord for this
