"Gear"  [Reflections on Chris Orwig's Book Visual Poetry   Chapter 11] (Exodus 20:17; Matt. 6:19-24)

The gear to us attractive is,
As too are those within the biz
As they perform their work – indeed
We think, “Is that a lens I need?”.

But we need growth, not gear to grow
Up into working what we show
To others – fruit upon the tree –
Not better sap, or trunk, or leaves.

That fruit’s exchanged for cash ’round here,
Though cost of course has dropped – some fear
There is no way to make a life
With photographs – but that’s not right.

For really it’s the niche we make –
Our voice, our output – fruit they take
As our exchange for what we need,
So we can each our families feed.

If we need peace there’s better ways
Than buying stuff – though photo trays
Are gone for good, there’s lenses still –
Which do not help, and never will.

So get to work; inspire the troops;
Use photographs; your passions loose;
In my case, ask through photographs
The questions we all need to ask.

Augmented text – “Bring story back
That’s mine” – write poems – gently ask
Through words I speak between the lines
From Echoland – deep truth to find.

There is an editing affect
Twixt photographs and written text –
An Echoland between the two
To raise a point – my point of view.

So keep things simple, don’t go wild;
The focal concept kept the while
As a central part of what has been –
My gift to them through product seen.

Thanks Lord for this.
