"All Scripture..."  (2 Tim. 3:15-17)

“All Scripture can instruct”, he claimed that day,
In letter he had written, sent away
To guide his younger colleague in the field;
Bid Tim recall the fruit such trees can yield.

It teaches endless truth – but one must read,
Or hear it read for it to impact deeds;
So read – alert for impact on your soul,
With growth and full maturity the goal.

Reproof can come as we pursue some path –
Encountering some text, it question asks
About the wisdom of our chosen way –
Confronts us with God’s words to “stop” and “stay”.

It does not leave us in confused array;
Correction it provides – bread for today;
Sometimes that challenges in ways profound –
“Perhaps it’s best you turn your life around”.

Thus in the end we’re trained in righteousness,
That we each day in business would express
Through thought, and word, and deed, God’s ways above –
His kingdom come to earth through human love.

Thanks Lord for this.
